On 7 October 2021, at a formal session of the City Council of the City of Sarajevo, Mayor Zoran Janković was awarded the title Honorary Citizen of Sarajevo.

In the justification, they pointed out that Mayor Zoran Janković has made an important contribution to the development and strengthening of the traditional friendship between Ljubljana and Sarajevo. Thanks to his commitment and strong support, relations between the two cities are established in many areas, from the economy, culture, tourism, sports and infrastructure projects to university and youth cooperation and other fields.

They added that Mayor Zoran Janković reaffirmed his tolerance and multicultural awareness by providing conditions for constructing the Islamic Religious and Cultural Centre in Ljubljana.

Mayor Zoran Janković thanked them for the title of Honorary Citizen of Sarajevo. He emphasized that he loves Sarajevo very much and that he is always delighted by the cordiality and hospitality of the people of Sarajevo.

During his visit to Sarajevo, the mayor also met with the Mayor of Sarajevo, Assist. Prof. Dr. Benjamina Karić.
