Millionth visitor to the ljubljana castle
On Saturday, 28 December 2013, the Ljubljana Castle was visited by the millionth visitor this year.
Visitor counters, placed at the entrance to the Castle and at the upper station of the funicular railway, identified the millionth visitor at the Castle's entrance. It was Bine Novak from Ljubljana, who took a stroll up the Castle together with his two children. He was welcomed by the representatives of the Ljubljana Castle Public Institute, who presented him with a gift of a culinary experience for two in the Strelec restaurant at the Castle, a huge basket of Slovene culinary delights from the Gostilna restaurant at the Castle as well as with gifts from the Rustika arts and craft gallery.
The Ljubljana Castle Public Institute thus accomplished its set goal of being visited by a million visitors each year. The goal was nearly accomplished last year already when the counters registered 952,738 visitors.
An interesting side note – 28 December seven years ago also indicated a starting date of the funicular railway, which up until 26 December this year took as many as 1,807,008 passengers up the Castle Hill.
