Modern Style Ljubljana and Maks Fabiani

The Modern Style Ljubljana and Maks Fabiani exhibition is displayed at the Jakopič Promenade in the Tivoli Park.

It marks the beginning of a string of events to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Maks Fabiani's birth.

The Jakopič Promenade boasts 116 photographs of modern style architectural heritage in Ljubljana until 15 May, 2015. The exhibition highlights the rich Modern Style (Secession) legacy in Ljubljana and the broad meaning of the international art movement and mutual cultural factor in Europe at the time. Local architectures have contributed to the national awakening by building in the Modern Style in many a place.
The exhibition is themed after the heritage of Maks Fabiani, one of the authors and members (1903-1904) of the Vienna Secession. He contributed to establishing the principles of Modern Style architecture by working within the Vienna circle of artist and presenting his famous buildings of Modern Style in Vienna, Ljubljana, Gorizia and Trieste between 1899 and 1909. Fabiani with his rich legacy is considered one of the key Central European architects at the turn of the 19th century.

The author of the photographs is Miran Kambič, an architect himself, who specialises in architectural photography within his artistic activity. His photographs are regularly published in local and foreign professional magazines.
