Most beautiful larger city

As part of the ‘My country – beautiful and hospitable’ project Ljubljana has been rated as the most beautiful and most hospitable larger city in Slovenia.

This year, for the 20th year running, the Slovenian Tourist Association has organised a competition for the management of Slovenian towns and villages entitled ‘My country – beautiful and hospitable’, in which Ljubljana has won the title of most beautiful and most hospitable larger city in Slovenia.

The State Commission for the ‘My country – beautiful and hospitable’ project selected Ljubljana in the larger city category with the following justification: “Ljubljana, Slovenia’s capital, is its political, scientific and cultural centre and at the same time its biggest city and its most important commercial centre. In recent times it has been experiencing a real renaissance in terms of appearance, events and the tourist offer”.

The City of Ljubljana and the Ljubljana Tourism public institute are proud to accept the award with a commitment to continuing to improve the city’s tourist offer and raise its quality of life.

The prize was awarded to Ljubljana, and accepted by Mayor Zoran Janković and Deputy Mayor Tjaša Ficko, at the closing ceremony of the project at the Days of Slovenian Tourism event in Portorož.

The evaluations of the State Commission of the ‘My country – beautiful and hospitable 2011’ project, whose patron this year was the President of Slovenia Dr Danilo Türk, can be found at the Slovenian Tourist Association’s website
