Multiple communities, one fight

Traditionally, cities around the world put on rainbow colours in June. On Saturday, 17 June 2023, the traditional Pride March will take place on the streets of Ljubljana, and the exhibition International Queer Solidarity: Images of Perseverance and Hope will be on display in the City Hall from Wednesday, 7 June 2023.

The exhibition is prepared by the Pride Parade Association, and its objective is to raise awareness and encourage reflection on the important role of international queer solidarity in the lives of LGBTIQ+ people in the most vulnerable circumstances and places in Europe and around the world. The intention is to create a space for artistic and cultural expression that gives us hope and strength to continue fighting and strengthen our collective resilience in times of confronting the cruel reality of war and other forms of oppression that LGBTIQ+ communities face.

Artists: Aleksandar Crnogorac (Serbia), Katarina Babič Derenda (Slovenia), Hassan Dib – Queen of Virginity (Lebanon, Germany), Francesco Giordano (Germany), Sandra Grbić (Serbia), Edvinas Grinkevičius (Lithuania), Oleksandr Halishchuk (Austria), Nuka Horvat (Slovenia) and Meta Mežan (Slovenia, United Kingdom).
Curator: Iris Pokovec.

Public guided tours with the curator of the exhibition:
• in Slovene: 10 June at 18:00
• in English: 14 June at 18:00

Panel: Perseverance and Resistance – LGBTIQ+ Community in Ukraine, panel with international guests, 16 June at 19:00, in the Right Atrium of the City Hall. The event will be held in English.

Pride Parade Festival

In addition to the exhibition mentioned above, the Pride Parade Festival will also host workshops, talks, round tables, get-togethers and cultural events that will address international LGBT+ solidarity through the prism of perseverance, survival strategies and mutual support.

Within the framework of the festival, on Monday, 12 June 2023, a discussion titled Dilemmas related to the medical care of intersex children will be held in the City Hall.
