Musical flights of summer

Ljubljana is to be enriched by a new music festival entitled Musical Flights of Summer, which runs from 24 May to 24 August 2013 in the Summer Auditorium at Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre.

The interesting and diverse programme is set to offer visitors a unique experience regardless of their age or musical preferences. There are to be shows by performers from diverse musical fields and corners of the world.

The Musical Flights of Summer Festival, featuring a mix of opera, operetta and passionate music where the Mediterranean temperament will come to its full expression, opens on Thursday 23 May 2013 with a performance by world famous Spanish opera singer Jose Carreras.

Until the end of August, the festival stage will be full of a huge number of interesting names: Oliver Dragojević, Željko Joksimović, and a first visit to Slovenia by Vlado Georgijev. The famous Guča festival moves to Ljubljana for one day, as there is to be an onstage performance by the orchestra’s 100 top musicians. The spirit of Cuba will be conjured up by Havana group Sierra Maestre, with a visit from Australia by AC/DC tribute act ACCA/DACCA. Electronic music aficionados will be out in force for summer entertainment by Deejay Time Spektakel & Nicky Romero. The festival will also see the opera spectacle Carmina Burrana and a Cossack dance performance. Friday Pump is to be an evening of national-party music. Fans of the gladiatorial arena will be able to visit the WFC tournament.

The organisers of the Musical Flights of Summer festival are AMC Studio, Expo biro and Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre.
