Netko 2012

The Visit Ljubljana web portal and the Primavoda website have won Netko awards, prizes given annually by the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce’s Association of Informatics and Telecommunications.

The Visit Ljubljana website won a Netko 2012 for the best digital project in the media and informative portals category, while the Primavoda website took a Netko 2012 in the web services category and most user-friendly web content for children category.

Web portal Visit Ljubljana

The Ljubljana Tourism public institute’s web portal Visit Ljubljana, intended for residents of and visitors to the Slovenian capital, is distinguished among other things by being mobile-device friendly as it has been upgraded this year with a responsive design that allows the display of customised content on differing screen sizes.

In its selection of award winners, the jury in the media and informative portals category followed the criteria of intertwining web models and the depth of information, while special emphasis was placed on innovation and user involvement.

The Visit Ljubljana website, set up by Ljubljana Tourism in 2008, combines the tourist content of Ljubljana and the Central Slovenia region, and is designed as a central web information point for tourists. As well as information about the attractions of Ljubljana and the region, cultural and culinary offers, the countryside and active holidays, entertainment and shopping, it also offers an event calendar and a map, and users can design their own trips with the MyVisit tool.

Website Primavoda

Primavoda is the website of the Vodovod – Kanalizacija public company, which unites in a single place general information about water and also that which is especially important for Ljubljana, and includes applications which emphasise the most interesting facts about water while allowing the visitor to actively take part in the content during their visit.

Primavoda has its Primapot, which leads the user through a selection of content about water that must not be overlooked, as it deepens their knowledge or guides them to a point of awareness about the way they deal with water. In some parts of the path the user can also actively take part and check their knowledge and invite their friends to take part via social networking sites.

In the category of ‘web services’, the jury selected the best on the basis of the criteria of innovation and integrated solutions as well as their actual usefulness. In the ‘most user-friendly web content for children’ category, Primavoda convinced the jury by stimulating young people’s creativity, imagination, participation, creating new opportunities and influencing the development of their skills. According to the jury, of all the contenders, Primavoda best approaches the target audience of children and offers educational content in a child-friendly and interesting way, is instructive and useful, raises awareness in a thoughtful way, promotes and broadens the knowledge boundaries of children about important assets such as water.
