New brochure on the development of Rog Centre

We are presenting a new brochure summing up the starting points, methods and development goals of the Rog Centre, a public creative hub planned in the city centre.

The development story of the Rog Centre is dynamic and long, innovative and complex, constructive and conflictive. But at the same time unique in Slovenia, as it the first example of a distinctly participatory design of a large public investment in the history of the development of cultural investments. An important instrument in this design is RogLab, a production laboratory next to the Ljubljanica River and pilot project for the future Rog Centre, led by cultural manager Meta Štular since its establishment some ten years ago.

Over 6000 stakeholders included in the project

Over 6000 early users and stakeholders have been included in the creation process of the Rog Centre through research, focus groups and prototype programme testing since 2010. The City of Ljubljana has been using field trial data for regular upgrades of the vision and the design of the Rog Centre. In 2019 we submitted it again for examination to the stakeholders who supplemented and confirmed the design.

Space of socially beneficial projects

The Rog Centre with its modern infrastructure, knowledge and international connections is going to provide creators, citizens, organisations and companies with a creative supportive environment for the development of socially beneficial projects, which are innovatively addressing the challenges of the 21st century.

The pandemic has uncovered many social and environmental injustices and strengthened our conviction that the only long-term remedies are systematic investment in just living conditions for all and sustainable environmental solutions. And the future Rog Centre is exactly such an investment.
