New extension to the waldorf school

On Monday 3 September 2012, the first day of the new school year, Mayor Zoran Janković presided over the gala opening of a new extension to the Waldorf School in Ljubljana.

20 years after the founding of the Waldorf School in Ljubljana, Slovenia’s first Waldorf School, the school has been given six new classrooms, two studios, a large multipurpose gym, a small gym and new play areas in an external courtyard.

The new extension to the Waldorf School is a great asset for both the school and for the centre of Ljubljana, as the organically-shaped building with its wooden façade blends in well with the green environment of Castle Hill and its harmonically-designed exterior speaks to passers by anew each time; the new spaces meanwhile, especially the gym, will enable residents of Ljubljana to enjoy sporting activities and cultural events in the afternoons and evenings and thereby quicken the pulse of this part of the city.
