On 3 July 2014 the public transport company presented 10 new environment-friendly articulated city buses running on methane. The company thus continues with its strategy of environment- and passenger-friendly public transport.

The chosen supplier of buses is MAN Truck & Bus Slovenija d.o.o.
Upon delivery the buses equipped with the state of the art technology which are fuelled with methane will replace the oldest diesel buses, thereby reducing the harmful effects of the emissions on the environment by 80%.

Together with the new buses the public transport vehicle fleet (which consists of 215 city buses) will include 36 buses powered by methane representing 17 % share of the vehicle fleet structure. By replacing all ecologically unsustainable older buses we will achieve our set goal – that is, half of the vehicle fleet to be powered by natural gas and thereby reducing the emission of PM10 solid particles in the environment by almost 21 tonnes per year.

With the modernisation of the vehicle fleet with the most modern buses running on natural gas or methane the company continues with its strategy of environment- and passenger-friendly public transport. With the help of the new buses the quality of urban life in Ljubljana will be even better, the environment more pleasant and healthier, air cleaner, and noise levels lower.
