New records at the Ljubljana Castle

On 18 September the Ljubljana Castle already recorded the millionth visitor this year. In the first nine months the number of passengers transported with the funicular increased by 8% in comparison to the same period last year, and mid-August a daily record was also set.

In the first nine months of this year over million people visited the Ljubljana Castle, more specifically 1,050,701, which means that crossing counters registered the millionth guest for six consecutive years, this year on 18 September. The funicular, which marked a new daily record on 15 August this year with 3,670 transported passengers, took on board 430,914 passengers in the first nine months, 8.32% more than in the same period last year.

Statistics of sold tourist tickets recorded 27.4% domestic and 72.6 % foreign visitors in the first nine months. The highest number of foreign visitors was from Italy, followed by Great Britain, Germany, United States of America, France and Korea. Compared to the previous year the ticket sales in the first nine months have risen by 9%.

Hostel Celica is complementing the Ljubljana Castle services

The Ljubljana Castle Public Institute, which took over the management of Hostel Celica this year, has in the three months since the hostel has been in operation again (between June and September 2018) recorded a successful main season with an average occupancy of as much as 91% of beds and 95% of rooms. During this period guests stayed in the hostel 1.58 nights on average. The comprehensive renovation of the hostel lead to a rise of scores in web portals and reservation systems.

In the first three months we were also visited by a few foreign journalists and bloggers who are spreading the success story of the Hostel Celica in foreign public. The highest number of guests is from Germany and Great Britain (jointly over 30 percent), followed by the Netherlands, France, United States of America and Belgium.
