New year's eve celebration in ljubljana centre

Around 50,000 people celebrated the longest night and welcomed the New Year in the city centre.

The Kongresni Trg square was the central point of celebration where Samuel Lucas, Tanja Žagar and the group Čuki entertained the visitors. Mayor Zoran Janković counted down the last seconds to midnight just before the sky was lit above the Ljubljana Castle with the traditional fireworks.
The programme featured various musical acts which performed on several city squares – the Pogačarjev Trg square was filled with Slovenian folk music fans, Nuša Derenda and Alenka Godec performed at the Mestni Trg square and the Trg Francoske Revolucije square hosted musicians who catered for those who enjoy "harder" rhythms.

We were happy to notice many tourists who visit Ljubljana frequently. 891,161 overnight stays were registered this year until the end of November which is 11 % more than in the 11 months of 2012.
The Tourism Ljubljana public institute predicts over 930,000 overnight stays in the entire year of 2013 which is 9 % more than the record number in 2012.
