Official visit to bern

On Thursday 20 October 2011 Mayor Zoran Janković led a City of Ljubljana delegation on a one-day official visit to Bern.

As part of the official visit to Bern, Mayor Zoran Janković met Alexander Tschäppät, the Mayor of Switzerland’s de facto capital, with whom he discussed bilateral co-operation between Bern and Ljubljana.

The two mayors highlighted the importance of co-operation in the fields of culture (the exchange of cultural groups and artists, support in setting up ‘the Alps: a Bird’s Eye-View’ exhibition) and the exchange of experience in public-private partnership projects, investments and urban management, transport infrastructure, the environment, energy and waste management.

To implement this bilateral partnership, the two capitals will support expert co-operation by professionals from the relevant departments of both cities and professionals from city companies.

Mayor Zoran Janković and the City of Ljubljana delegation also visited the Intersport International company and viewed the Postfinance Arena stadium, while Blaž Košorok, CEO of TE-TOL, Ljubljana’s thermal heating plant company also had a look at the operation of Bern’s waste incineration plant.
