"On Bicycle You Can Get Far!"

The campaign "On Bicycle You Can Get Far!" started on International Earth's Day, 22 April at 5 p.m., with a ride from the Office of the President of the Republic to the Ljubljana ZOO.

 

The campaign is under the honorary auspice of the President of the Republic of Slovenia Mr Borut Pahor and it is active within the Bike-Track-Bike project between 22 April and 22 September 2014 under the title "On Bike You Can Get Far! In Ljubljana We Cycle for Pedro Opeka!" The main focus of the campaign is to motivate leisure cycling as transportation method on everyday errands.

The participants provide support to a young nurse, Katarina Šabic, who is cycling across Madagascar to raise funds for a nursery building within the mission Akamasoa, managed by the world renowned Slovenian missionary Father Pedro Opeka. For more on the campaign visit the following link.

The main event of the campaign is the Ljubljana Bike Festival 2014. The programme of the festival is available on the following link. The campaign will be concluded within the European Mobility Week in September 2014 with the event of Ljubljana Elementary Schools Bicycle Day under the honorary auspice of the City of Ljubljana Deputy Mayor, Prof Mr Janez Koželj. The campaign will be accompanied with various events such as cycling and travel lectures, and trainings on everyday leisure cycling benefits from the point of mobility, health and urban environment preservation.
