Opening of an energy renovated unit of the Oton Župančič Kindergarten

On 15 November 2018, we opened the energy renovated Oton Župančič Kindergarten, the Mehurčki (Bubbles) unit. The renovation of the kindergarten falls within the scope of smart solutions with which we are raising the quality of life in our city and are taking care of our environment.

The energy renovation of the Kindergarten falls within the framework of a public-private partnership between the City of Ljubljana and the consortium of companies Petrol and Resalta. The works included the renovation of the façade, the doors and windows, light fixtures, the fire protection system, the thermal power station and radiators. In addition, the premises on the ground floor, terraces and atriums, the central kitchen and the playground were renovated.

The Mehurčki unit is one of 48 buildings renovated within the scope of the aforementioned public‑private partnership. In addition to educational establishments they include cultural, sports and health care buildings and city administration buildings.

With the renovations carried out so far we save over one million euro annually, in addition, we have already preserved 150,000 trees, and in the second phase of the project during which are going to renovate 11 more buildings we are going to preserve further 22,000 trees.
