In the hackathon Climathon Ljubljana 2021, held between 29 November and 2 December 2021, 6 groups took part, looking for ideas and solutions to encourage the residents of Ljubljana to improve waste management and co-create a zero-waste city.

In the jury's opinion, the deserving winner was the application Paint The World!, which is both innovative and useful, can be implemented, has potential for growth, includes the aspect of the circular economy and social responsibility and the strengthening of the company's trademark. The application envisages the establishment of a digital platform that connects the manufacturer, individual users and professional users, public institutions, artists and disposal facilities in order to minimize disposal (recycling, incineration...) of water-based waste paints.

At this year's Climathon Ljubljana, teams were looking for ideas and solutions for mitigating climate change and adapting to it and motivational methods to use green, circular and digital services, products and processes.

The challenges were designed in three thematic areas:

• biological waste,

• hazardous household waste – paints and solvents,

• transparency and traceability of waste separation and waste processing.
