Petar ii petrović-njegoš monument

On 19 May 2014, Ljubljana has unveiled a monument to mark the 200th anniversary of the birth of the great Montenegrin poet, secular ruler and Bishop, Petar II Petrović Njegoš.

The gathered public at solemn event at the crossroads of Njegoševa Cesta and Šmartinska Cesta at the new park in Ljubljana were addressed by Mayor of Ljubljana, Zoran Janković, the Honorary Consul of Montenegro in Slovenia, Vojislav Kovač, who focused on the mutual collaboration and connections between the nations, the State Secretary at the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia, Aleš Črnič and the Minister of Culture of Montenegro, Branimir Mićunović.

The Petar II Petrović-Njegoš Monument is a gift from the Honorary Consul of Montenegro in Slovenia, Vojislav Kovač, to the City of Ljubljana.

The author of the bust is a renowned Montenegrin academic sculptor, Drago Đurović. The author of the architectural solution of the new park and the monument is the architect, Rok Žnidaršič.
