Plečnik awards and medals 2014

On Monday, 14 April 2014, the “Plečnik's Awards 2014" were given out at the Museum of Modern Art.

They are the central public recognition of Slovenian authors for their outstanding creations in the field of architecture, urbanism, landscape architecture and internal design.

The awards, granted by the Plečnik Fund, are the central public recognition of Slovenian authors for their outstanding creations in the field of architecture, urbanism, landscape architecture and internal design created in the last five years in Slovenia or abroad.

The Plečnik Award 2014 went to Matija Bevk, Vasa Perović and Andrej Ukmar for Situla, the residential and business complex in Ljubljana.

The Plečnik Medals for current realisation were presented to Jurij Sadar and Boštjan Vuga for the Brnik Air Traffic Control Centre (ATCC).

The Plečnik Medals for current realisation were presented to Dean Lah and Milan Tomac for the renovation of the Dominican Monastery in Ptuj.

The Plečnik Medal for lifelong work and contribution to architecture, culture and establishing architecture into society was conferred to Andrej Hrausky and Majda Cajnko for managing the DESSA Gallery for 25 years.

Nataša Koselj was given the scientific publication medal for a monograph on architect Danilo Fürst.

The Plečnik Medals for executed project achievements were given to Bramac Company for manufacturing a replica of Plečnik’s roofing tiles in the renovation process of three churches.

The Plečnik Medals for performing achievements were given the STOL & STOL Company for manufacturing the unique chairs for the Plaza Hotel in Ljubljana.

The Plečnik Award for student achievements was received by Martin Pelcl for his thesis "The Architecture of Dialogue", mentored by Prof Dr Petra Čeferin.

The Plečnik Awards and Medals tender received within the deadline 44 suggestions, of those 26 executed projects as Award candidates, 8 Medal candidates (from the fields of architectural theory and scientific publications), 5 student dissertations for the student recognition award, 4 projects for contributions to architecture and culture and 1 suggestion for executed project achievements.
