The central tourist attraction in the city, the Ljubljana Castle, has been visited by 443.987 people, while 118.152 visitors travelled by the funicular in the first six months of this year.

The first half of the year is very promising with 443.987 visitors by the end of June considering the last year statistic of 20.000 less visitors in the same period. The funicular rides have increased by 14 % with 118.152 visitors by the end of June considering the last year numbers. By August 2014 the Castle funicular will welcome its two-millionth passenger since its beginnings – the end of 2006. The one-millionth passenger was taken aboard in 2010, after less than four years of service.

The month of April marks new tourist content at the Castle – a somewhat different guided tour of the Ljubljana Castle with costumed animators and a guide to take the visitors on an attractive tour of six important periods of the Castle and the city below. The Time Machine – From Emona to the City Symbol tour has welcomed more than 2.200 local and foreign visitors (in April and May the tours were held only on weekends, in June and September four tours per day) who are impressed by the new content.
