Prepared for tomorrow

The booklet "Ready for tomorrow" - Ljubljana’s programme in the field of environmental protection up to 2013 is now also available in English.

Ljubljana, the capital of a still young European country, daily meets new challenges associated with growth and development. Many of them directly affect the environment and indirectly the quality of life, and thus Ljubljana must act wisely if it wants to tap into its development opportunities.

The City of Ljubljana’s environmental protection programme is, in this sense, a key document, in which the city forecasts how it is to resolve its main environmental issues in the long term. The "Ready for tomorrow" booklet outlines the several-year process of programme formation and showcases the main themes of an urban centre’s environmental problems. In it, the most important steps up to 2013 are presented as well as the key achievements: the moves towards sustainable mobility, greater energy efficiency, conservation of drinking water and the protection of green spaces in the Slovenian capital.

A healthy environment is the basis of a pleasant life in the city. The long-term decisions outlined in this booklet promise us the continuation of a colourful but green and beautiful Ljubljana.
