President of france in ljubljana

On 25 July 2013, as part of an official visit to Slovenia, French President François Hollande met Mayor of Ljubljana Zoran Janković.

The French President took the opportunity to sign the City of Ljubljana’s Golden Book.

French President François Hollande visited Slovenia at the invitation of President Borut Pahor. This was the first visit to Slovenia by a President of France, offering opportunities to strengthen mutual relations between the countries.

The central purpose of President Hollande’s visit was related to deepening the strategic partnership signed by Slovenia and France in March 2011. The emphasis of the visit was on strengthening political and commercial ties and other forms of co-operation between the countries. President Hollande’s visit was also an opportunity to exchange opinions on current European themes related to the future of the EU, strengthening Economic and Monetary Union and broadening the EU in the states of the western Balkans.

As part of his visit to Slovenia, French President François Hollande was also a VIP guest at a meeting of the EU and the Presidents of the western Balkan states, the so-called Brdo process, hosted at Brdo by the Presidents of Slovenia and Croatia Borut Pahor and Ivo Josipović.
