Prime Minister visited the City Hall

On 13 February 2019, Mayor Zoran Janković hosted the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia Marjan Šarec at the City Hall.

In the introduction Mayor Zoran Janković said he is pleased and proud to host the Prime Minister at the City Hall. He commended him especially for reaching an agreement with the trade unions and signing an agreement with municipalities on lump sums according to which the City of Ljubljana received additional four million euro.

The Mayor and the Prime Minister talked with colleagues about open projects in the City of Ljubljana in which the state plays a role, as well. The Prime Minister underlined the renovation of the bus and railway station and emphasized that the state is responsible for the implementation of this project.

Mayor Zoran Janković said he presented the guests with an overview of open projects in which the state has to cooperate with the capital, an overview of state investments which are halted or are not moving forward, and an overview of private investments in Ljubljana. Among main open issues where he expects state support, the Mayor emphasised foremost the construction of rental apartments, new homes for the elderly and a student campus.

Both stressed the significance of cooperation in the economic area and the special role of Ljubljana as the capital of Slovenia. The Mayor also familiarized the Prime Minister with the development of tourism in the city.
