Prize-winning zadobrova elementary school
The 6th grade students have constructed a scooter powered by solar cells and won the International Environment & Innovation Competition in the Sustainable Mobility theme.
The scooter is constructed of waste and used scooters, and it is powered by solar energy. It took them around 6 months to build "Zadobrovček" as they named the scooter after their community of Zadobrova.
The scooter runs on three batteries (36 V), which can be charged from any socket (220 V), but the school has its own solar charging facility, and the scooter batteries are charged there.
The "Ecological Innovation – Solar Powered Scooter and Promotion of Sustainable Mobility" project is co-financed by the City of Ljubljana via the Public Tender to Co-Finance Programmes and/or Projects in City of Ljubljana in 2014 Pertaining Supporting Service in Education and Leisure Time of Children, The project was also supported by the Toyota Adria Company, which presented the winning project with 5,000 EUR award within the Toyota Fund for Europe.
