The Regional Development Agency of the Ljubljana Urban Region has received a national certificate in the category of "Improving the Business Environment” within the European Enterprise Promotion Award.

The Regional Development Agency of the Ljubljana Urban Region has received a national certificate in the category of "Improving the Business Environment” within the European Enterprise Promotion Award at the initiative of the Regional Centre for Creative Economy (RCKE) which focuses on encouraging creative economy in the region.

The European Enterprise Promotion Awards reward excellence in promoting entrepreneurship and small companies at a national, regional and local level. Over 2,500 projects have entered the tender since the awards were launched in 2006 and together they have supported the creation of well over 10,000 new companies. The selection has two stages; the initiatives awarded at the national level are then eligible to compete for the European awards (the European level winners are selected in the middle of July and announced in October at the solemn award ceremony in Naples).
It is the integration of different participants (outside the narrow area of economy as well) that stands as one of the arguments to award the RCKE initiative. The encouragement of economy via encouraging creative economy at the simultaneous regeneration of degraded spaces is the promising area of improving the contemporary business environment.

RCKE aims at development of creative economy by education, counselling and organising events to educate the creators for successful business activity, promote the potential of creators in economy, and encourage interdisciplinarity in developing new products and services. The Centre supports and intensely implements bottom-up initiatives, such as Crowdfunding. It develops new products and services to confirm the interdisciplinary developmental process in practice by conducting complex business chains and connecting creators, companies, educational establishments and decision makers. RCKE and experts from different areas are partnered in creating a set of board games for dementia patients. They enabled the development of the »A do B: Ljubljana« application for the smartphone users in Ljubljana to provide quick and comfortable sustainable mobility in Ljubljana with public transport (BicikeLJ, bus) and walking.

RCKE's numerous activities develop the regional creative enterprise ecosystem, comprised of (creative) economy, creative professions and creative spaces.

The operation is partially financed by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund. The operation is executed with the Operational Programme for Strengthening Regional Development Potentials 2007-2013, developmental priority of the regions and priority directions of the regional development programmes.
