Regional Development Programme of the Ljubljana Urban Region

On 12 June 2015, the Regional Development Council of the Ljubljana Urban Region unanimously adopted the Regional Development Programme of the Ljubljana Urban Region which is based on the strategic and programme document for key regional developmental guidelines during the 2014-2020 period.

The document is fully in line with the EU 2020 goals for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth. At the same time, the Regional Development Programme of the Ljubljana Urban Region with 495 project proposals valued at 1,838 million EUR represents an important platform for EU funds absorption.

The developmental goals are primarily focused on the operation of the region with efficient internal connections and activities oriented chiefly towards sensible usage of space, natural resources and energy, as well as towards promoting the development of knowledge, creativity and innovation. The main goal of the programme is creating a recognisable and competitive metropolitan region which can provide good jobs and high quality of living. Therefore Ljubljana will build its sustainable development on the platform of knowledge, innovation, creativity and synergy of all important stakeholders and sectors. Special attention will be given to the development of the economy in harmony with the environmental capabilities of the available space. And the competitiveness of the region will be increasing with the appropriate upgrade and development of transport, environmental, information and communication, and social infrastructure.
