Renewal of the accord between ljubljana and vienna
At City Hall today, Mayor Zoran Janković and the Mayor and Governor of the City of Vienna Dr Michael Häupl signed a renewal of the accord on co-operation between the cities for the next four years.
On this occasion, they stressed the good and comprehensive co-operation in every field and highlighted cases of good practice which the two cities exchange with each other.
In Ljubljana we are working hard to set up a museum for children, renovate the zoo and introduce thermal waste processing following Vienna’s example, and in particular we would like to exchange good practice in the field of the construction of not-for-profit housing.
With a delegation, the Mayors visited Stožice stadium, the park next to Plečnik’s Žale cemetery, and the subsurface waste receptacles in the city centre, took a stroll around Congress Square, the refurbished banks of the River Ljubljanica and had a boat trip along the Ljubljanica.
At the end of the meeting, Mayor Zoran Janković expressed his pleasure about the visit and invited his Viennese colleague as well as every Austrian to enjoy the rich cultural events that Ljubljana offers in summer.
