Preparatory works for the complete renovation of Trg Republike square in the centre of Ljubljana are underway. The renovation is foreseen to be finished by the end of September.

 

The parking facility on the square platform is already closed for operation, while from April the traffic will be obstructed also on the Šubičeva Street.

The square platform renovation will coincide with the refurbishment of an underground parking garage construction. The works will be coordinated by segments in south-north direction (Šubičeva Street) of the square.

The works are executed by:

- KPL Rast, d.o.o., responsible to conduct the renovation works of final platform layers of Trg Republike in line with the initial plans drawn by the architect Ravnikar. The platform will be covered with stone slabs and stone cubes of the Pohorje tonalite in layers of various widths. The pattern lines will be predominantly set in the east-west direction with the perpendicular arrangement along the Šubičeva Street. The stone cubes will be laid down in a circular pattern. The investor of these works is the City of Ljubljana.

- Tosidos, d.o.o., will remove the existing pavement layers above the reinforced concrete slab, renovate the AB slab construction above the first garage storey and cover the sloping concretes with hydro-insulation and provide the protection of the hydro-insulation layer and renovate/set the gully grid covers and floor drainages. The investor of these works is BSL, d.o.o.

After the renovation works, the whole Trg Republike platform will be closed for the motor vehicle traffic and will become a central city and national square. Trg Republike together with its surrounding buildings and symbols of independence and statehood represents the central city area of national significance.
