On 27 October 2015, the renovated children’s playground at the kindergarten Hiša pri ladji, one of the Vič kindergartens, came to life.

The City of Ljubljana is the only municipality in Slovenia which has quite a few years ago introduced the monitoring of soil conditions for public kindergarten playgrounds. So far 60 playgrounds have been checked. As monitoring results for the unit Hiša pri ladji have shown a higher value of lead in the soil, the restoration of the playground was carried out during the summer. It included the replacement of old dirt with new soil, preventative resurfacing of the neighbouring lot and wet scrubbing of the kindergarten interior.

The restoration of the playground was concluded by the end of September 2015 with the cost of the project amounting to roughly 400,000 EUR.
