Reusing instead of discarding

The public company Snaga is starting a socially responsible initiative, the aim of which is to encourage reusing as well as responsible consumerism with respect to ourselves, the environment and our wallets.

Snaga believes that reusing is not just an action but an attitude towards things and a philosophy of life. The goals of the initiative "Reusing Instead of Discarding" are changing the behaviour and values of the citizens, reducing the amount of food waste as well as directing the still-usable goods where they are needed.

For the last ten years, Snaga has mainly put emphasis on separating waste, whereas lately its content and communication strategy has been focusing more on reusing and avoiding waste production.
With the help of a "recycled" song "Letiva (Let's fly)", posters, container stickers, events and workshops in district communities and in the Re-use centre, Snaga wishes to offer an alternative to the all-too-common mindless consumerism and conviction that new things are simply better than the old or reused ones.

"Reusing Instead of Discarding" is a socially responsible initiative whose main aim is to change the behaviour and values of the citizens, reduce the amount of food waste as well as to direct the still-usable goods where they are needed most.

The action was started on the initiative of the public company Snaga. In 2014, other public utility companies will be invited to cooperate and the initiative will be expanded to a national level.
