One of the all-time great basketball players was received at City Hall by Mayor Zoran Janković on Wednesday 16 February 2011.

Arvydas Sabonis was in Ljubljana with a delegation to showcase the European Basketball Championships, that are to take place this year in Lithuania.

Sabonis, former centre in the Lithuanian national team, ended his playing career in 2005 with Lithuanian club Žalgiris, of whom he is now President.

During his visit to Ljubljana, he was guest of honour at the Stožice arena where he watched a game between Union Olimpija and Maccabi on Thursday 17 February 2011.
