Sapramouse fountain

On Saturday, 22 April 2017, the Sapramause (Sapramiška) fountain was unveiled in front of the Ljubljana Puppet Theatre rounding up the celebrations at the 30th anniversary of the Sapramouse puppet theatre performance.

Sapramouse, one of the most popular fairy tales written by Svetlana Makarovič, published as a book in 1976, directed by Nace Simončič was first performed on the Grand Stage of the Ljubljana Puppet Theatre on 17 October 1986. It remained on the programme uninterrupted up to date, it was performed 1768 times and as many as 287,595 viewers have seen it.

In 1989 the play was also mentioned in the Guinness Book of Records as a show performed as many as 177 times in a year and 231 times since its premiere until the entry into Guinness Book of Records.

At the 30th anniversary the performance was staged with a fresh appearance and with an added humanitarian mission – the company Ilirija produced the Sapramouse toothpaste and a share of it sales goes into the Sapramouse found of the Slovenian Association of Friends of Youth.
