Sava - river that connects

New recreational surface has been arranged on the right bank of the Sava River between the Tomačevo and the Črnuče Bridge.

The arrangement of the recreational area is part of the "Sava - River that Connects" project. It is the second phase of the project to arrange walking, cycling and horse riding trails and other recreational arrangements from Šmartno ob Savi, via Stožice and Ježica to the Nemška Cesta, forming a new "riverside park". The area includes 2 km of horse riding trails, over 6 km of footpaths, 18 trim trail stations on three locations and 150,000 m2 of forest surface. Among other arrangements are a new children's playground, a recreational climbing wall and a disc golf course.

The project is partially financed by the City of Ljubljana and partially by the European Regional Development Fund. The total investment value is about one million Euros.

Ljubljana considers this project a social responsibility towards the wider region along the Sava River and desires to use the good practice of the Ljubljanica River and Sava River arrangements to assist the cross-border initiative of arranging the Sava river banks along the entire riverflow, and to contribute to the friendly collaboration of the three capitals (Ljubljana, Zagreb, and Belgrade).
