People with innovative ideas, entrepreneurial talents and teams who want to verify and develop an entrepreneurial idea may now visit the Start:up Ljubljana web platform to familiarise themselves with programmes, events and opportunities offered in Ljubljana and the Central Slovenia region.

The young job-seekers are faced with extreme difficulties when entering the labour market. This is even more complicated during the economic crisis and for this reason the Technology Park Ljubljana (TO Lj) and the Regional Development Agency of the Ljubljana Urban Region (RRA LUR) took an initiative to establish an open platform, i.e. Start:up Ljubljana with a vision and aim to connect institutions and present key regional entrepreneurial programmes with the accompanying services for the activation of the entrepreneurial talents and for the launch and growth of the start-up companies.

The single platform connects programmes of regional partners into a comprehensive regional start-up ecosystem. This approach homogeneously strengthens regional endeavours for stimulating and invigorating the entrepreneurships which are through the integration upgraded to the national level or the national programmes of the Start:up Slovenia Initiative.

Start:up Ljubljana focuses on programmes for entrepreneurial talents, such as entrepreneurial workshops, forums, competitions, entrepreneurial weekends, etc. In addition to theses programmes the emphasis is also on the programmes for start-up companies. The latter are designed for entrepreneurial teams deciding to launch their start-up companies. The programmes include consulting and mentorship, access to international events and media recognition.

In addition to supportive entrepreneurial organisations, the most important institutions of knowledge and research are located in Ljubljana, thus making Ljubljana a perfect place for developing business acumen and innovative companies. The Jožef Stefan Institute, Institute of Chemistry, National Institute of Biology and University of Ljubljana joined the Start:up Ljubljana Initiative.
