Summit of Capital City Mayors of Central and South-East Europe

Mayor Zoran Janković and the City of Ljubljana delegation have attended the Summit of Capital City Mayors of Central and South East Europe: Capital Summit 2015 on 23 April 2015 in Belgrade, Serbia.

The Summit, which is organised by the City of Belgrade, provides an opportunity to strengthen regional cooperation between capitals, encourage economic exchange and investment, and promote best practices in the domain of economy and sustainability.

Mayor Zoran Janković has presented Ljubljana as the European Green Capital 2016 in the "Quality of Life and Future Development of CSEE Capital Cities" panel. Beside the mentioned title he also introduced the Tourism for Tomorrow Award, which was received by Ljubljana the previous week, placing it as the first among sustainable future destinations in the world. He also remarked Ljubljana is the only city to have received the European Mobility Week twice.
Mayor also put in focus the capitals are the carriers of development for entire regions. The Mayor used this opportunity to extend his gratitude to the host, the Mayor of Belgrade, Siniša Mali, and also the other participating mayors on their presentations.

To mention, the Prime Minister of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, and Dr Igor Šoltes, a Member of the European Parliament, have both exposed Ljubljana, the European Green Capital 2016 as an example of a city to learn from.

Alongside Ljubljana the Capital Summit 2015 gathered representatives of Sarajevo, Skopje, Zagreb, Podgorica, Budapest, Sofia, Warsaw, Tirana, Vienna, Bucharest and Athens.
