Technology park ljubljana awarded

The Technology Park Ljubljana has received the prestigious and international "John Shields Award", which recognises the guarantee of high quality supportive business service.

For the insightful role of the Technology Park Ljubljana and its results in providing professional and expert services in the field of entrepreneurship promotion and innovation processes the 22@ Barcelona Innovation District organization from Spain awarded the Technology Park Ljubljana with the prestigious John Shields Award.

, Deputy General Manager of the Technology Park Ljubljana, has stated upon receiving the award: "Since its establishment in 1995, the Technology Park Ljubljana, as the largest of its kind in Slovenia, has been strengthening its international activity and recognition in pursuing its main objective – to become an internationally recognised support environment and business centre for the growth of globally competitive, innovative and highly technological start up entrepreneurship. Receiving this prestigious award is a confirmation of our endeavours and activity in the field of encouraging and strengthening entrepreneurship at home and in the world!"

The Technology Park Ljubljana has been since 1996, a full legal member of the World Association of Technology Parks and areas of innovation – IASP (International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation) to ensure integration of the Park, establishing new business connections and opportunities, as well as professional education and competence building of management and its employees. The organization unites 388 members, technology parks and business incubators from 70 countries and bringing together more than 128,000 high-tech enterprises. Based on the performance and results of the Technology Park Ljubljana as the leading national organization for the promotion of entrepreneurship, Mag Iztok Lesjak, General Manager of Technology Park Ljubljana, has been elected in 2010 by the General Assembly of the IASP international organisation for two-year presidency of the European division of the organisation.

Technology Park Ljubljana reinforces its own international activity with a proactive approach in searching for and maintaining international project consortia. The Technology Park Ljubljana has managed or participated in 20 international project consortia, involving an average of six international partners in the field of entrepreneurship promotion – technology parks, incubators, knowledge centres, research institutes, etc. Due to its success and the international recognition the Technology Park Ljubljana has been invited to design numerous international project consortia in this year alone. Technology Park Ljubljana in the first half of this year confirmed cooperation with its own substantive contribution in 14 international project consortia aimed at strengthening the competencies and providing the latest and modern services to entrepreneurs with highly added value and potential to penetrate international markets.

The Technology Park Ljubljana also provides an international role in the implementation of business support services, including through the establishment of bilateral agreements on cooperation (AKRON Global Business Accelerator – USA Small & Medium Business Development Chamber of India – India; Barcelona Activa – Spain; ASTER – Italy; BIC Inbcubatori FVG Spa – Italy; ZEDA - Zenica Economic Development Agency; Tehniško-Inovacijski Centar Rijeka), etc.

For the companies the Park also represents an access point to foreign markets. In this spirit, the representatives of the Technology Park Ljubljana within the Slovenian delegation, supported by the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports and SPIRIT Slovenia, will be attending the Knowledge Expo 2014 in India from 20 to 22 November 2014. They will demonstrate some good practice from the field of establishing a supportive entrepreneurial ecosystem and strengthen their relations with India.
