On Friday, 28 February 2014, Mayor Zoran Janković hosted the Iranian ambassador in Slovenia, Mr Mohammad Rahim Aghaeipour at the City Hall for a farewell visit.

On 4 February last year, Mayor Zoran Janković hosted the president of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization in Teheran, Dr Mohammad Bagher Khorramshad and the Deputy Secretary General of the organisation, Mohseni Pour Mohseni. The opening of the cultural week of the Islamic Republic of Iran at the Ljubljana Puppet Theatre also took place on that day. The exhibition of Iranian traditional music and different visual arts – puppet theatre, traditional clothes, and photographs of the Iranian tourist attractions, history, culture and religion was presented during the cultural week in Ljubljana.

The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Ljubljana was officially opened on 11 July 2011 after the visit from the Iranian Foreign Minister, Ali Akbar Salehi.
