The beavers are coming!

From 23 January to 8 February 2016, the 8th Ljubljana Festival of Culture and Art Education Beavers is taking place in Ljubljana with over 17,000 free-of-charge tickets available.

In 2016, Ljubljana as the holder of the title European Green Capital is organising numerous events within this framework and the 8th Ljubljana Festival of Culture and Art Education Beavers is joining in. Through different workshops and other events in museums, galleries and libraries, as well as theatre, film, dance and music performances we are going to explore and develop awareness for the protection of local and global environment affected by accelerated climate changes, scarcity of resources and their harmful appropriation.
Beavers 2016 are also joining the international project Small size days taking place from 29 to 31 January all around the world (in Helsinki, Madrid, Salzburg, Bucharest, Ciudad de México…) with numerous events for the youngest. Small size days are uniting the youngest children and their families in the recognition that art has a special value and significance in our lives, from birth onwards.

The festival also includes some international performances. The interactive poetic performance the Head-to Head (Têtê à têtê) exhibition is coming to Slovenia from France and from Croatia the performance Minimi. Some projects in the festival are a result of international coproduction, for instance Wolfheart (Volčje srce), Heart and Bellybutton (Srce in popek) and Doodledee, it is me! (Krickrac, to sem jaz!).

This year’s festival Bevers is organised by as many as 74 cultural institutes and groups creatively active in Ljubljana, the events are taking place at 68 venues in the capital and children can go to 227 events. There are 17,387 free-of-charge tickets available for the festival.
