The Center Rog and the University of Ljubljana concluded a cooperation agreement

With the Center Rog renovation project and program, starting in autumn 2023, the building will function as a public production space of the 21st century, dedicated to the cultural and creative sector, with an emphasis on manufacturing, applied arts and design.

The Center Rog will be a creative hub accessible to all, which with its programs will go beyond the usual separation between high and popular culture. It will offer creators and citizens almost 9,000 m2 of new creative space and content as well as a new 8,000 m2 park intended for daily use by citizens and public events. The Center Rog will function as a public and modern 21st-century manufacturing space intended for the broadest range of users with an emphasis on design, architecture, engineering, urban handicrafts, manufacturing and applied arts. On 1,200 m2, there will be eight community workshops, offering many opportunities for work, socializing and cooperation.

Formed partnership

The partnership between the University of Ljubljana and the Center Rog, which includes, among other things, the use of a pedagogical classroom and 300 hours of work in community workshops, is aimed at exchanging knowledge, connecting faculties with the local environment, making manufacturing skills and tools more accessible, acquiring technical and soft skills for both students and teaching staff, and interdisciplinary cooperation of different faculties on joint projects. Particularly valuable is the collaboration within the multidisciplinary pilot projects of the EUTOPIA alliance, a learning and research community of ten European universities, within which the University of Ljubljana is developing a micro-educational credit system in the field of lifelong learning and researching possible practices in the area of interdisciplinary cooperation of faculties.

Young Rog programe

In the Center Rog, young people will be supported in their transition from student to professional with the Young Rog program, which is every year expected to provide ten young people with one-year use of the co-working space and all manufacturing workshops with mentor support for the development of their creative ideas into prototypes and products.
