The glorious villas of ljubljana and prague

Until 11 April 2013, City Hall's Historical Atrium is playing host to an exhibition entitled "The Glorious Villas of Ljubljana and Prague".

It was organised by the FOIBOS Prague agency, the City of Ljubljana and the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Slovenia.

The 'Glorious Villas of Ljubljana and Prague' exhibition is part of the three-year international Via Villas project, with support from the prestigious European CULTURE programme, which comprises partner organisations from Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland.

The goal of the project is to enhance awareness of residential architecture, which is not just a rich element of individual European regions' cultural heritage, but also enables us to understand the roots and inspirational role of modern culture. A study undertaken by experts from the four partner countries details the plan of villa architecture in the European regions. At the same time, the cultural-aesthetic side and technical level of construction guided the project into the personality and upbringing of their architects and the lives and business destinies of their builders. It therefore illustrates that villa construction, in spite of history, reflects the development of architectural trends and styles, the atmosphere of the period and a view on accommodation and understanding the concept of home.
