The Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre is celebrating 70 years

Exactly 70 years ago, on 20 March 1954, the Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre was founded, now the leading event centre in Slovenia, hosting various events from fairs and exhibitions, congresses and corporate events to concerts, proms and other events.

Most of its halls are under protection as architectural heritage.

Fairs are still the most important economic activity of the Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre. International congresses host over 2,000 participants at the same time and are usually accompanied by a large exhibition.

Emphasis on sustainable development

Sustainable transformation is critical to driving the development of the meetings industry. Venues play a key role and are pioneers in adopting sustainable initiatives. Sustainable development and environmental care are important operating principles of the Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre.

The entire roof of the Kocka hall, the largest hall of the Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre, is covered in solar panels. In the coming days, an additional solar power plant with an electrical capacity of 100 MWh will be connected to the grid. Together, they will produce an average of 462 MWh of electricity annually.

With the new acquisitions, the Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre will emit 460 tons less CO2 annually, burn 38 tons less coal and help save 25,150 trees.
