The london visit

On 25 November 2013, the Mayor of Ljubljana Zoran Janković and his delegation visited London where they met with Lord Mayor of Westminster, Councillor Sarah Richardson and attended the concert of the Ljubljana International Orchestra.

The Mayor of Ljubljana and Lord Mayor of Westminster Sarah Richardson expressed satisfaction over their first meeting and later jointly attended the concert of the Ljubljana International Orchestra, which comprises exceptional young musicians.

With concerts held in Ljubljana, Venice and London between 23 and 25 November 2013, the Ljubljana International Orchestra promotes Ljubljana as a cosmopolitan city, a city of young and creative people and a city of opportunities.

The London concert comprised 82 musicians from 20 countries, 20 of these came from the London-based orchestra The Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra.

After Mayor Zoran Janković and Lord Mayor of Westminster Sarah Richardson welcomed the guest at John's Smith Square, Petra Stušek (Ljubljana Tourism) and Blaž Peršin (Museum and Galleries of Ljubljana) continued with a presentation of Ljubljana, focusing primarily on the festive December activities, the Emona 2000 project, marking next year's 2 millennia of the existence of Ljubljana, and the exhibition THE WHEEL – 5,200 years, which showcases the oldest wooden wheel with an axle in the world, discovered at the Ljubljansko barje (the Ljubljana Marshes)
