From 28 September 2013, the area of the Ljubljana Central Market is undergoing preliminary archaeological research to evaluate the conservation of the archaeological remains on the location of Ljubljana - Vodnikov Trg.

The research is conducted on two locations, the area is secured and the market's activity will not be disturbed.
The research will take one month.

The purpose of the research:
• to introduce additional findings and evaluation of the conservation state of the archaeological remains in the Vodnikov Trg area (conservation assessment of structures of the East and West branch of the Franciscan monastery),
• to introduce expert foundation for the valorisation of the archaeological remains beneath the Vodnikov Trg,
• to ascertain starting points and set guidelines for future project and construction planning.

The preliminary archaeological research is supported by the Museum and Galleries of Ljubljana.
