The year of cinema - kinodvor 90

The Year of Cinema - Kinodvor 90 is the celebration of cinema and film in the 2013/14 season to commemorate 90 years of cinema on the Kolodvorska Ulica 13 where the Kinodvor City Cinema stands today. The project will be accompanied by various events and programmes dedicated to the culture of film.

It is supported by the City Cinema Kinodvor and Kinoteka. The opening of the the Year of Cinema project will take place on October 15th by three exhibitions displayed at Kinodvor which were set up with the help of their business partners. No entrance fee for the exhibitions.

From October 14th onwards, you will be able to visit the Kino Paradiž (Cinema Paradise) exhibition in the Kinodvor gallery aiming to portray the golden era of Ljubljana cinematography.
The visitors undergo a voyage to the lost times of the cinematic activity of the past. The National Museum of Contemporary History and its funds have provided the exhibition with a selection of photographs of cinemas from the past, elegant premiere nights, cinematographic accomplishments, projection rooms and other glimpses of former glory and magic of cinematography.

You can visit the Kolodvorska Ulica - From Travelling to Cinema exhibition in the Slovanska Library on Einspielerjeva 1 until October 5th.
The exhibition is filled with information on the history of this particular street which was named by the nearby train station. Among the insight into the list of institutions also located on the street, you will learn about the history of the Ljubljana's cinema - today's Kinodvor City Cinema.

Peter Kocjančič: Slovenian Film Poster is an exhibition in the NLB Avla Gallery on Trg Republike 2 in Ljubljana.
It portrays rare and less known, yet valuable Slovenian film posters from the 1920's archived in the National and University Library in Ljubljana.
