We opened the Stožice Urban Sports Centre

Under the Stožice stadium, we opened the Stožice Urban Sports Centre, the first covered public space for urban sports in our country.

Surfaces of approximately 1,350 m2 are designed for skateboarders, inline and roller skaters, as well as BMX freestyle bicycle and scooter riders. The space will be used for recreation and urban sports training throughout the year.

An architecturally interesting urban centre

The centre is set up under the eastern stands of the stadium and represents an interesting architectural parking area adaptation. The riding surfaces are divided into two sections: on one side, there are street elements imitating curbs, stairs and other elements in an urban environment, and on the other side, there are flow elements with undulating ramps imitating sea waves. Smaller movable elements are also available on both sides, allowing additional adjustments to meet different users' needs. Both areas are connected by a mezzanine, where the main entrance is also located. It also represents a social space with a nice view of both sides. The new sports area was built by the architectural office SADAR+VUGA, the work was carried out by the company Dema plus d.o.o., and its manager is the public institute Ljubljana Sport.

The Stožice Urban Sports Centre is intended for different courses and training of urban sports club members, and part of the time, it will also be used for recreational exercise. It is open on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 14:00 to 22:00, on Saturdays from 12:00 to 20:00, and on Wednesdays and Sundays it is closed.

The contract value of the investment was 1.6 million euros, including VAT, of which 542,097 euros were for equipment. Part of the funds for buying equipment was contributed by the company Lidl Slovenija d.o.o. k.d. within the framework of the public initiative "Lidl for Vital Slovenia" for grant co-financing of infrastructural projects.
