Website of the City of Ljubljana tailored to people with disabilities

The website www.ljubljana.si is fully tailored to people with disabilities. According to the international web content accessibility guidelines (WCAG 2.0 standard) of the World Wide Web Consortium it meets the conformance level AA.

In the City of Ljubljana we are aware the world web is one of the key elements of communication therefore it is important that the information and services provided are accessible to all. For this reason we are the first municipality in Slovenia to fully tailor our website to people with disabilities. We have been working together with the publishing house Beletrina helping us with professional advice provided by experiences representatives of the vulnerable groups.

Information and services on the website www.ljubljana.si are accessible free-of-charge, to anyone and at any time according to the principles of solidarity and universal accessibility. In our adjustments we have considered the needs of the elderly and users with health restrictions (including among others visual, hearing, motor, cognitive and speech restrictions) and adapted the technical and design elements of the website to make the content accessible and understandable to the broadest scope of users. They can access information regardless of the device used for browsing (computer, tablet, mobile phone...), technical aids (braille line, screen reader, tailored devices used instead of a keyboard or a mouse…), operating system, browser setup and the internet connection speed.

The implementation of website accessibility was based on the analysis of a representative sample of subsites and the advice from Beletrina’s experts and representatives of people with disabilities. The website www.ljubljana.si is now fully tailored to people with disabilities and the compliance with international web content accessibility guidelines (WCAG 2.0 standard) of the World Wide Web Consortium meets the conformance level AA.

The City of Ljubljana will continue to ensure accessibility of its web content to people with disabilities.
