World Teachers' Day

On 5 October, we celebrate World Teachers' Day. In Ljubljana, we have a whole range of excellent teachers.

Among them is the Teacher of the Year 2023, Jožica Frigelj, MA, from Kette and Murn Primary School, who adopts innovative approaches and advocates a particular approach to assessing children's knowledge.

In 2023, the general and professional public chose Jožica Frigelj, MA, from Kette and Murn Primary School, as Teacher of the Year. Her rich experience in the field of teaching, constant professional training and her commitment to the welfare of children, and her efforts and perseverance have already been recognized by the profession, as she was awarded the prize for life's work in the field of primary education in 2020. She says she is not a teacher of the learning material but a creator of the educational process and a motivator for students to acquire new knowledge. Upon obtaining the Teacher of the Year 2023 title, she said: »Satisfaction with one's profession is the basis for a happy life. And the current shortage in the labour market must not be replaced by insufficiently qualified personnel.«

Initiative I am a teacher!

The AmCham organization, one of the largest international communities in Slovenia, organises the selection of the Teacher of the Year at the national level. The awardee will then represent Slovenia at the global selection next year as part of the Global Teacher Prize. The Initiative I am a teacher! wants to ascribe greater importance to the teaching profession and highlight good practices, thus inspiring those who decide to enter the teaching profession.
