The City of Ljubljana has successfully concluded the second phase of the UHI project (Urban Heat Island) with a positive control report issued by the company Ernst & Young in Vienna.

July, Biodiversity and Bee Month
Ljubljana, European Green Capital 2016, has entered into the seventh month of the green year, the theme of which is biodiversity and bees. We are also introducing the first six ambassadors of the green Ljubljana.

New Sporting Acquisitions
Soon Ljubljana is getting two new sports halls – for sand volleyball in the neighbourhood Črnuče and indoor football in the neighbourhood Štepanjsko naselje.

Cities for air
On 27 June 2016, Mayor Zoran Janković took part in the first Cities and Metropolises International Conference Cities for Air in Paris organised at the initiative of the Mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo with the support of the C40 Network (Cities Climate Leadership Network).

Energetika Ljubljana to Cooperate in the Public Sector Reorganisation in Pančevo
On 28 and 29 June 2016, the General Manager of the public company Energetika Ljubljana Samo Lozej and the Mayor of Pančevo Saša Pavlov continued their talks regarding the cooperation of the energy company Energetika Ljubljana in the reorganisation of the public sector in Pančevo.

On 24 June 2016, Mayor Zoran Janković hosted the President of the Republic of Croatia Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović at the City Hall.

Golden Apple for Ljubljana
In the year when it holds the title European Green Capital Ljubljana also won the Golden Apple Award (La Pomme d'Or), the highest recognition of the World Federation of Travel Journalists and Writers (FIJET).

European Award for Silver Economy Initiatives
On the basis of its many years of experience and good practises with regard to activities for the elderly, the City of Ljubljana was invited to serve as an evaluator in a project with the aim of setting up the European award for Silver Economy Initiatives.

European Green Capital 2018 Announcement
On 22 June 2016, the European Green Capital 2018 was announced in Ljubljana. The accompanying programme went on the whole day with diverse events such as the round table titled »Green Cities – Challenges and Experiences« and the presentation of the car sharing system Avant2Go.

The man campaign continues
The City of Ljubljana is continuing its socially responsible campaign »Človek, čuvaj svoje mesto« (»Man, take care of your city«). In its focus is calling attention to picking up dog feces and throwing away bubble gum into garbage bins.
