Mayoral by election 2012

At the 4th extraordinary meeting of Ljubljana City Council held on Wednesday 11 April 2012, Zoran Janković was officially sworn in as Mayor.

224,385 residents of Ljubljana had the right to vote in the by election for Mayor of the City of Ljubljana, which took place on Sunday 25 March 2012. Turnout in the election was 103,327 (46.05%).

In the by election, a majority of votes went to Mayor-to-date Zoran Janković (Positive Slovenia), who took a total of 61,727 votes (60.99%), followed by Mojca Kucler Dolinar (New Slovenia – Christian People’s Party) with 25.80% and Miha Jazbinšek (Greens of Slovenia) with 6.48%.

In turn they were followed by Vito Rožej (ZARES - Social Liberal Party) with 4.10%, Dr Matjaž Glavan (Slovenian People’s Party) with 1.08%, Gregor Škerl (Humane Slovenia Party) with 0.88%, Jože Jarh (Regional Equality Party) with 0.36% and Jože Drnovšek (Forward Slovenia) with 0.31%.
