2014 sportsman and sportswoman of ljubljana
The mountain biker Tanja Žakelj and canoeist Benjamin Savšek are Ljubljana’s sportswoman and sportsman for 2014. The best men’s team is ACH Volley Ljubljana, and the best women’s team RK Krim Mercator.

2015 Župančič Awards
The recipients of the 2015 Župančič Awards, the highest award granted by the City of Ljubljana for outstanding creation in the field of art and culture are known. This year a lifetime achievement award receiver was an academic painter, graphic artist and sculptor, Vladimir Makuc.

The Župančič awards ceremony, the highest award granted by the City of Ljubljana for outstanding creation in the field of art, was held at the Ljubljana City Theatre on 8 June 2016. This year a lifetime achievement award was received by Veno Taufer.

On 29 and 30 October, the Volkswagen 21st Ljubljana Marathon was held in Ljubljana, the biggest annual international sports event in the city. A record number of runners signed up for this year’s marathon, that is, over 28,000.
