2015 Župančič Awards
The recipients of the 2015 Župančič Awards, the highest award granted by the City of Ljubljana for outstanding creation in the field of art and culture are known. This year a lifetime achievement award receiver was an academic painter, graphic artist and sculptor, Vladimir Makuc.

2016 Župančič Awards
The Župančič awards ceremony, the highest award granted by the City of Ljubljana for outstanding creation in the field of art, was held at the Ljubljana City Theatre on 8 June 2016. This year a lifetime achievement award was received by Veno Taufer.

2021 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour
From July 27th to August 1st Ljubljana will host the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour.

20 June is a day to remember all those forced to leave their homes because they face persecution in the countries they come from. Due to conflicts, wars, discrimination, economic reasons, climate change, thousands of people are forced to flee their homes every day.

21st Ljubljana Marathon
On 29 and 30 October, the Volkswagen 21st Ljubljana Marathon was held in Ljubljana, the biggest annual international sports event in the city. A record number of runners signed up for this year’s marathon, that is, over 28,000.

We are just a few days away from the final matches of the UEFA European Under-21 Championship at the Stožice Stadium, and as part of the countdown, we planted 21 new trees in the vicinity of the stadium.
