The vegetation cover of the Earth’s surface can change at an unprecedented rate. Especially invasive, non-native species of plants can quickly spread and negatively affect the ecosystems that they enter. In many areas both in the world and in Slovenia, it is assumed that invasive plants have already replaced native shrubs and trees.

Opening of the Prekmurje Square
At the 100th anniversary of uniting the Prekmurje region and Slovenes in Prekmurje with the Motherland, we opened the Prekmurje Square at the crossroads of Poljane and Rozman Street and the Poljane Embankment.

The first smart basketball court within the framework of the #Podamdaigramcampaign
Together with one of the best Slovenian basketball players of all time Goran Dragić we opened Slovenia’s first smart basketball court in Ljubljana.

Ljubljana increasingly attractive to tourists with tents and motorhomes
Ljubljana is an attractive tourist destination also for visitors who wish to spend a night in a tent or motorhomes and similar trailers. Problems arise if they want to set up a tent in the Landscape Park Tivoli, Rožnik and Šiška Hill (KP TRŠh) or spend a night in a motorhome parked on a surface not designated for that purpose.

Ljubljana is once again in the finals of the European Capital of Smart Tourism competition
On 7 August 2019, the European Commission announced the finalists of the 2020 European Capital of Smart Tourism competition, which also include Ljubljana. After a presentation in Helsinki, on 8 October 2019 the European Jury will select two winning cities and award four others in the accessibility, sustainability, digitalisation, and cultural heritage and creativity categories.

Nine Film under the Stars screenings sold out; Open-air Cinema coming to Congress Square
Film under the Stars, which concluded on 3 August, had over 16,000 visitors. City Cinema Kinodvor’s evening screenings continue at the Kinodvorišče on Kolodvorska, and the Open-air Cinema is coming to Congress Square.
